  I like [Mirakutei](http://mirakuteipdx.com/) for both sushi and ramen. [Sushi Mazi](http://www.sushimazipdx.com/) is very good, but on the spendy side. Same with [Bamboo Sushi](http://bamboosushi.com/) (multiple locations).

  If you've got the wheels and time, a 15-20 minute drive over to Beaverton for [Kizuki Ramen](http://www.kizuki.com/) (formerly Kukai) is totally worth it. It's my favorite ramen I've had in the area. I believe it's the first non-Japan outpost of the franchise. Or maybe there are a few in Seattle? I don't know. [Marukin](https://www.facebook.com/marukinramenshop/) is also very good, there is a location downtown in Pine St. Market and one on the Eastside on 6th and Ankeny, I believe. They rotate broths, and I'm a BIG tonkatsu fan. I think that's available on Sundays and Thursdays. Haven't any of the others except the cold broth special they had one day, which was good. Another Japanese ramen shop that made it's way over here. I also dig the ramen at [Hapa Ramen](http://hapapdx.com/_, which is a food cart in the 28th and SE Division cart pod. Tonkatsu, obviously. It can get a little too salty, though. And I like [Boxer Ramen](http://www.boxerramen.com/), which is very casual. There's one downtown across from the Ace Hotel and one on Alberta St. As for other asian food, you have to try [Nong's Khao Man Gai](http://khaomangai.com/) to get the signature Thai chicken and rice dish. It's unbelievable. There are a few locations, including one next to the eastside Marukin. For sushi, if you happen to be filthy rich I hear great things about [Nodoguru](http://www.nodoguropdx.com/), which I think is omakase only? And [Fukumi](http://www.fukamipdx.com/#modern-organic-thai) is also getting great word of mouth. Again, pricey, therefore I haven't been. I CAN vouch for Bamboo Sushi, like the other commenter mentioned. The Hoke Poke Box is amazing. But because it's sustainable sushi, they don't carry every fish. Like hamachi. There's no hamachi. NO HAMACHI. Sigh. And for sneaky good more affordable sushi, I like [Miyamoto](https://www.facebook.com/miyamotosushi/) in Montavilla. Ignore the crazy rolls, I think, stick with the simpler stuff. Though the Monkey Brains appetizer is delish. Plus it's connected to a great bar called Roscoe's, and you can order beers from their menu. Likewise, you can order Miyamoto sushi in Roscoe's and eat there. Hope that helps, and enjoy your trip! I'll take any leftovers.

  I can't speak to authenticity, having never visited Japan, but Kizuki Ramen in Beaverton is very good. I'm assured by my SO who has been to Japan and is a very picky ramen eater that it's the best in Portland. In addition, I like Bamboo Sushi for nigiri and sashimi, Yama Izakaya for izakaya food, and Yama Sushi and Masu are both pretty good for rolls. I've never been to Mirakutei or Sushi Mazi that /u/portlandiata mentioned so I don't know how they compare.
