WhoDoYou Passes Angie's List in Monthly Recommendations, Gaining on Yelp

Social Local Search Service now has Users in 4,685 U.S. Cities and over 150 Countries

Tel Aviv, Israel, June 11, 2014 - WhoDoYou, a free social local search website and Android app, today announced that it has exceeded Angie’s List in monthly recommendations. The site collected more than 65,000 recommendations in May, surpassing the 60,000 reported by Angie's List. WhoDoYou attracted visitors from more than 4,600 U.S. cities and over 80 countries during the month, and has been growing its user base by 10%, week over week, for the past ten weeks.

WhoDoYou differs from sites like Angie's List and Yelp by collecting real conversations on leading social networks and converting them into honest, authentic referrals. The site avoids anonymous reviews. With more than a half million searchable results across hundreds of local service categories, WhoDoYou helps consumers every day in thousands of US cities, and dozens of countries, find trusted local businesses.

"We're especially proud of this accomplishment because all 65,000 recommendations are genuine referrals made between friends. There are virtually no bogus reviews,” said Yoav Schwartz, founder and CEO of WhoDoYou. “Our users certainly appreciate the sheer number of recommendations on WhoDoYou, but it’s not the quantity of reviews that really matter. It’s the quality of a trusted review that empowers users to confidently choose a great local provider."

"WhoDoYou uses advanced machine learning and natural language processing to scour social networks for relevant public content (ex. "Does anybody know a good pediatrician in San Francisco?"), captures the responses and distills them into searchable recommendations. Users can search by category and location, and trace every recommendation back to its original source, making it extremely difficult for people to 'game the system' with phony reviews."

Users who log in with their Facebook accounts see even more personalized results - referrals culled from private conversations between their own Facebook friends and groups. Not available through public searches, these referrals are captured and securely displayed only in each user’s private Vault.
