Looking for information on therapy dogs in Ontario Canada. Our pediatric specialist has suggested an anxiety dog for our 6yr old. Wondering who to contact, is there funding and if so where, best breeds etc

I believe Lions, ADS and NDS (National Service Dogs) all have wait lists for service dogs. http://www.nsd.on.ca/

Hi there. Can you please post this anonymously in the Orangeville Q&A group.
"Does anyone know how to apply/where to apply for a service dog for psychiatric disorders. Thanks"
Donna M. replied:
I am not sure there are service dogs for this type of disorder. I would contact National Service Dogs and see if they can point you in the right direction. http://www.nsd.on.ca/
Good evening, LWLers. Wondering if there is anyone out there with experience or knowledge in how to go about acquiring a service dog. Looking to help out a family member who's doctor has agreed that this could be the best treatment for them.

National Service dogs is highly reputable with a stringent training process. The application form is eleven pages long. They vet you more than you will ever vet any service dog provider. http://www.nsd.on.ca/
came across this page (saw that a friend had liked it) and thought maybe someone on this page could advise... my daughter is looking to take on a career with service dogs and was very interested (after watching a US program) about working with services dogs for people dealing with PTSD. Does anyone know where we begin looking for a place who provide training /education for those wishing to work with service dogs of this kind - we are in Fergus (near Guelph, Ontario) Thanks in advance!

National Service Dogs is in Cambridge and trains PTSD dogs as well as autism dogs, they might be your best bet. http://www.nsd.on.ca by the way... Small world, I live between Fergus and Belwood lol
