  In case you aren't set on that kind of filter, I use a free standing countertop system; I pour water in the top and it filters with gravity. They even make shower head filters. www.berkeywater.com

  We got a [berkey](http://www.berkeywater.com/). They're a couple hundred bucks, but when you factor it out, it works out to a few cents per gallon. We had alge bloom problems and my wife was getting sick. the berkey was the only reasonable thing we could find that she didn't get sick from.
