  Apple picking recommendations for young adult groups, couples Fall is coming upon us and the gf and I are looking for recommendations to get out of the city for some apple picking. Does anyone have good recommendations for apple orchards that aren't crazy far from NYC? Bonus points to any farms that offer other varieties of fruits/veggies to pick, serves hard cider at their own winery or has a brewery nearby, has other activities on-site, or any place that has a nice town nearby to explore. We're not going to be pick apples all day!

History: In 1945, the Van Cortlandt Manor House was sold outside the Van Cortlandt family for the first time in 250 years. Otis Taylor bought it in 1945. Upon his death in 1948, Jerome Britchey acquired it. He took down the barns and built the Starlite Drive-In where they had stood.
