Chinese food restaurants open on Christmas Day? At the risk of getting flamed for insisting on ordering out on Christmas Day, I figured I’d put this out to the group here.
Does anyone know of a Chinese food restaurant that is open on Christmas Day? No dine in, just carry out.
Thanks!

Al.com always does an article about it closer to the holiday. Here's a few from the past to get an idea: https://www.al.com/news/2017/12/christmas_2017_what_restaurant.htmlhttps://www.al.com/news/2018/12/what-restaurants-are-open-on-christmas-day-2018.htmlhttps://www.al.com/news/2019/12/christmas-day-2019-whats-open-whats-closed-dec-26-what-restaurants-grocery-stores-are-open.html
History of architecture in B’ham I’m looking for resources on the history of the beautiful architectural designs we see around town. Specifically, I’d like to interview someone who is an expert on this subject. Where should I start looking?
dcspringer replied:
Honestly, maybe check Vulcan museum. They have a pretty solid history of the city, and the influence the steel industry had on it. Maybe also check the museum of art, or even see if city hall has some archives. My guess is a lot of buildings may have their own individual architectural influence that may require going to the building themselves to inquire about. Anyways, anywhere that has history about the city should be a good place. Edit: [Good article](http://blog.al.com/mhuebner/2010/10/michael_fazio_chronicles_birmi.html) on al.com about a guy chronicling the history of Bham architecture. Might be worth checking out his book/the article as well.
Anyone know of a good website to see some fishing reports on mobile bay?
Cory Q. replied:
I don't know of any right now off hand. I know that AL.com used to have a weekly report. I think you can also join the ACFA forum and they have reports if my memory serves me correct. Would really like for this group to become a go to spot for fishing reports. Thomas, you got anything?

There are many job search boards: monster.com, careerbuilder.com, al.com, you can Google job boards. Another option is temp agencies like Kelly, Spherion, Manpower, and Express Pro. Temp services are a great way to get your foot in the door.

Interior Designer? Hi r/Birmingham!
I'm moving next week to the city (loft district) and I'm leaving/selling everything I have furniture related. Time to start fresh.
Any recommendations on an interior designer. I'm a single guy and busy starting a new job. I'd much rather find someone to design/furnish my loft and write one check.
Any thoughts?

I'm looking for a smoke house. Not a BBQ place but a legit smoke house. I want some fall off the bone ribs without the BBQ sauce. The best ribs I've ever had was from a place in TN. Looking for a place here to top that. Tia!!!

Big Boyz BBQ in Ashville has that. Dry rub ribs cooked in the smoker. Voted in the top 15 in Alabama by al.com

My husband and I are new to Huntsville, been here 1month. We are looking for jobs but can not seem to find a good place to look. We have been on Indeed.com, monster.com and craigs list. Most jobs we have been finding are jokes or part time. Can anyone point us in the right direction to look? My husband is a truck driver and would like to do local now, he has been in trucking for yrs., but we need ideas of local companies. I have been in food service, cafeteria, for yrs. and also have warehouse experience. We are not lazy and most desperately need ideas of where to look. We don't know the area well yet but we have a gps so names and addresses or phone no. of places would be helpful. Thank you so very much in advance!

Sorry I've been away from the page, minions. It's beginning to look like Cleburne might be a place that needs our help. Does anyone happen to know of any couples that have been turned away there? Also does anyone know of any other protests planned for here or anywhere in AL? I've been looking but can't find anything, even though this article mentions a couple. If we head down to Cleburne we need to do some homework first.

Good morning friends! In exchange for 2 pounds of bacon (we ate one) and 3 bottles of red wine, I need some help. My friend Johannah Williams Hudson's little boy is still stuck at daycare at JCA on highway 78. These two need to be reunited in a big way. Anyone know if we can get down 78? Anyone with a big truck want to help us try?
Angie S. replied:
Saw on al.com that parts of 78 are impassable. If you made it there I don't know that you could make it back, they said something about Scott's hill? Was the worst

You've heard talk of one BIG-a** high school for Decatur, combining DHS and Austin? Well, that's not gonna happen. Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols and the school board have looked at the options and decided, back in May, to stay with two high schools. But both will be new in about 2.5 years if they can find the $$ and the land. Both DHS and AHS are old (60 and 50 years, respectively), and both are land-locked and cannot expand except upward. Ogle Stadium is also about 60+ years old and needs replacing. AHS has never had a big stadium of its own (pause while I shed a tear... there, that's over). What will they do with the old physical plants? Who knows? Stay tuned. That's HS news from the River City.

The AL legislature, although claiming to be broke when it wants to be, is considering "no more paper textbooks" in the state, to varying degrees. Neighboring systems in Huntsville and Hartselle are implemented this now in some grades. E-learning is all the rage. What's the acronym about learning in colleges? MOOC or MOCC: Massive Online Open/College Courses? Decatur's school board is looking carefully at all of this. I'm encouraged by some of the efforts at technical education here, cooperation with Calhoun Comm. College. Go to DecaturDaily.com to follow this, or AL.com for the state.
Does anyone know of any rental properties available in the Pell City/ Eden area? We are looking for something with easy access to the interstate, 1-2 bedrooms and affordable! We are looking at moving mid aug- late sept.

Question from the Inbox ~ my husband and i just got orders to birmingham alabama. we will be pcsing in a few months and ill be 6 months pregnant. so we are looking for a safe neighborhood, a new doctor & hospital and any other good info! thanks
Emily W. replied:
I am from a city about an hour north of Birmingham and just about everyone I know makes the drive to St Vincent's hospital in B'ham. Dr Snowden is an OB/GYN there and she is awesome. She was my gyno when I lived at home and I soooo wanted her to deliver my baby last year, but now we're stationed in Philly :( I'm not sure if she is a Tricare providor but I would definitely look her up. Www.stvhs.com. Click on "find physician" then go from there. Her clinic is Henderson & Walton Women's Center (www.hwwc.net). Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Gardendale, and Hoover are good suburbs. Wikipedia has lots of info about the city. Also, al.com (search "birmingham"), birminghamal.gov. There's lots to do there. Good luck and I hope you like it there! Hope this helps!
