About us
I’m Cristin Thornhill, Owner and Cake Designer for Cakes by Cristin. I grew up in a small town in Arizona, where I first started baking at the early age 11, making cakes to enter in county fairs. My entries were always judged based on the cake design, difficulty, and taste, and this really brought out my baking creativeness!
I continued to bake for fun, getting serious about it after having my own children. Making amazing cakes for them took my creativity to a whole new level. When I saw the look on their faces and the excitement of having not just a cake, but a wonderous piece of delicious art to share with their friends, I knew I had a gift!
Soon I was being asked to make cakes for my family and friends, which gave me opportunities to expand my skills. It wasn’t long before every weekend was filled with baking! Now here I am, three years later, with my ovens and mixers churning nearly round the clock!
I have been blessed to have so many mentors, and so much support on this journey. I absolutely love what I do, and I take great pride and care in every creation I make. My favorite part is working with my clients to come up with the perfect concept, flavor, and design that is just perfect for their special occasion.
