  We've been happy with Lakeland Carpets in Bury http://www.lakelandcarpets.co.uk/ We had carpetright do two rooms in our house and weren't impressed, Lakeland have done 4 and will be back to do the stairs later this year! Local firm does better than national chain, yet again :)
