  There was a recent post from someone interested in homeschooling but also wanting reviews on private schools. There were many wonderful responses with lots of great links to homeschool resources, coops, waldorf, montessori, and christian based school reviews, and there were responses that people put a lot of detailed information in. Others were very interested in this info but the original poster deleted it. Would those who contributed (or those seeing this for the first time) repost their info here or contribute to this new post on homeschooling in FW and local private school options? Thanks!!!

  Central Lutheran School in New Haven is wonderful and it is a testimony that many parents who went there themselves now send their own children. With the voucher program and other scholarships we have found it to be very affordable. They use Shurley English and when my oldest transferred from public school she was blown away by how much she learned from this curriculum and the teacher, who estimated she was three years behind in this subject. She was able to get caught up and is so thankful to have this extra boost for high school. I have four kids and we were new this past school year and they all LOVE Central. Everyone was very welcoming and they made friends easily. They do this amazing musical production in 2 nd and 3 rd grade (called an operetta). They offer band beginning in 4 th grade. They have a robotics club that did very well at state competition. They offer all kinds of sports too. Being a K-8 school (and preschool), all the kids get to know each other and interact. Though it is one of the largest Lutheran schools in the Fort Wayne area (400 students), it has a small school feel to it. There are 2 classes per grade so it is a small school compared to where we came from with 5 classrooms per grade. The middle school, while in the same building, has a nice blend of junior high as well as unity with the entire school. The faculty do special things for them such as hosting a glow-dance (all kinds of glow-in-the-dark stuff and blacklights). The 7 th & 8 th graders go to Washington DC. The older kids are reading buddies with the younger kids. I am so pleased with the education and experience my kids are getting at CLS. http://www.cluth.org
