  great looking bike Martin, the Villiers JDL engine is so easy to work on, but as Roy Best says I don't understand being on the opposite side I would contact Steve at http://www.villiersservices.co.uk/ he is very knowledgeable of these type engines & will put you right on any problems, I have a similar bike being the Sun Autocycle so as you find other problems I may be able to help, another good source of parts will be http://www.mopedland.ukfsn.org/spares.html I hope you find all you need

  Mike, I have had tremendous success working with Villiers Service in the UK. They offer a reasonably priced complete rebuild of your Villiers engine. What is great is the cost to transport is really inexpensive because our engines are so small. You can get all the information from them at http://www.villiersservices.co.uk/ The cost for a rebuild runs from $450 - 900 US. I've done two 1F and one 2F engine with them. Best of luck - but I'd definitly go to the experts. As you know finding Villiers replacement pieces is getting harder and harder these days. You don't need somebody who works on "similar" engines monkeying with your treasure.
