Hello everyone. My cousin John and I are looking for some information about our grandfather John Mackenzie, originally 5 Finsbay, latterly 8 Horgabost, and his experiences during WW1. We have our grandfather's service number and know that he was in the 5th Camerons, He was seriously injured, possibly in 1918 and would have bled to death had it not been for an observant orderly who saved his life. Thank you, whoever that was! What we would really like to know is where our grandfather fought exactly, where he was injured and where he was hospitalised. Not asking much, I know! Perhaps someone had a family member who fought alongside our grandfather and can pass on some recollections however vague they might be? My Uncles Ken and Murdo would particularly appreciate some info about what happened to their father during that terrible time. Huge thanks!
