  Local commute / shopping/ food Hello, I am looking for tips as we are arriving next week. 1. Im sure we will be running castle to hill for house hunting. Day ticket vs monthly pass vs any other card, what do you recommend? Do we have any family discount cards :) 2.we will be in EH3 area for initial 2 weeks. Any good supermarkets /stores near by you recommend for groceries shopping? 3. Life is tough as a vegan. Any restaurants /cafes serving good vegan food preferably near EH3? Does vegan scottish food exist if we want to explore local cuisine? 4. I know taxi is expensive. Do we have uber/similar taxi raiding app and which one do u recommend?

  For your shopping needs: https://www.realfoods.co.uk/ Hendersons and the restaurant in the Filmhouse are worth a visit for a good meal! maqbools is not bad for Indian/arabian essentials and there's a couple of decent asian markets on Leith Walk. If you get the monthly bus pass you'll no really need to use taxis. you can get from one side of the city to the other in about 45 minutes.

  I have to order all my sauces and syrups online (cheaper than vegan shop near where I live) it's a few quid for postage but stuff is loads cheaper so works out better. Here's my last order I got agave syrup and golden syrup just a few quid each. Date syrup is also amazing!!! Is worth it if you order enough. It's called Real Foods (www.realfoods.co.uk) xxx

  Holland & barrett, ocado (check out Fry's range), GoodnessDirect.com (though you have topay for chilled and frozen boxes for delivery), Realfoods.co.uk. all supermarkets have vegan lists online with saunsburys and coop being best for clearvegan labels. Good luck and happy shopping. Join instsgram for a great vegan community where they share recipes and food finds. Accidently vegan on there is great for things you never knew were vegan. Xx

  You can make seitan from ordinary flour but it is hard work and it takes a long time. The vital gluten already has the hard work done for you - realfoods.co.uk sell it for about £12 per kilo.
