About us
You know those people who ask a lot of questions? That’s me. I’m beyond curious about the world. I grew up on the North Shore of Vancouver, BC and crows were always 'one branch away'. I adopted them as my companion in life and when it came time to think up a name for my photography business it was a no brainer. No, I didn’t choose this location along Hwy 3 for its name, Crowsnest, but I sure thought it a lucky coincidence!
I love the quote “Not all those who wander are lost” It’s how I live my life in a state of wandering, observing, and being open to what life throws me. I stumbled farther into photography in 2005 during an adventure in South Africa when I picked up my first digital camera. After a year of playing it started paying and friends and family were recommending me to their friends. I kept my day job, who doesn’t in Vancouver?! I decided to take part time studies at Langara towards a certificate in photography as the jobs were becoming increasingly complex. I worked for an ad agency and had some work in BC Business Magazine and thanks to my blog some freelance work for the Vancouver Sun. Weddings, portraits helping to pay for more gear and study.
My long time partner and I decided to exit the rat race in 2009 and sold our home in Vancouver for a ranch up the North Fork. Yep, quite a change but that’s what I do best… wander and try new things. We do travel a fair bit and these days you can find us leaving home for a month at a time in our truck camper. With select shots from our recent adventure I made my first photography book and I’m looking forward to making a another in 2016.
My pursuit of new experiences pushes me to continually evolve my vision, while reminding me of the importance of carrying my camera with humor, compassion and curiosity.
