I’m visiting York in a couple of weeks and would like to have an afternoon tea. I’ve seen recommendations for Bettys but also heard it’s over rated. Does anyone have any suggestions for a little independent tea room or cafe? To also do a ‘normal’ afternoon tea ideally.

Cafe concerto opposite the Minster do some amazing Gf cake - they are a little quirky theatre bar. If you want afternoon tea Deans court hotel are great too and often have deals online for mad Hatters tea party.
Hi, looking for child friendly GF aware places to eat in York please.

Cosy Club have a GF and kids' menu and also Cafe Concerto is lovely and GF aware. Also, all the usual chains - Carluccios, Bill's, Prezzo etc. Have fun! http://cosyclub.co.uk/clubs/york/ http://www.cafeconcerto.biz
Hi! Does anyone have any recommendations for York, I have searched the page, but I want somewhere a bit nicer than the usual chains as it's for me and my boyfriend on my 30th Birthday - any ideas? Thanks! Eleanor

Just to add to the other suggestions - Cafe concerto is nice http://www.cafeconcerto.biz and I'd also recommend Rustique on Castlegate http://www.rustiquerestaurants.co.uk/rustique-york- castlegate/. If you really want to push the boat out, go to the Star Inn the City http://www.starinnthecity.co.uk/starcity_mobile.htm. There's more ideas on the Coeliac and Gluten Free York group FB pages. Hope you have a fab time!
