  Rendezvous is a tourist trap. Go for the scenery, but not the food. Try Central Bbq downtown in front of the National Civil Rights Museum (also near Beale St). Corky's is a good recommendation too. I volunteer at the World Championship BBQ Cooking Contest (aka Bbqfest), so I can go on and on.

  I concur with Natasha. My parents prefer Corky's. We go to both Central and Corky's depending on our mood. We prefer Corky's when we want a little better service.
