About us
A celebration of 150 years of education in The Dalles, 1854–2004 was celebrated at the close of the district. Now a historical museum is established for the school district archives, both District 12 and 9.
We already have and can always add more memorabilia: programs, annuals, photos, trophies, ribbons, uniforms, and yearbooks. Booster Girls, FFA, Thespians, and Usher’s Club and Girls League is represented by photos as is every elementary school and Jr. high. If you have things you would like to share rather than discard, we will catalogue your donation and add it to the display for future family and class reunions.

John K. asked:Still hunting for photos of 3 government homes at Five Mile locks on the Celilo Canal. Corp of Eng Dist Office has no one working in photo archives any longer & photos not cataloged nor available for public. Attended Petersburg School (one-room country school house) 1950-1953 & have no school photos either. Hope someone can help or give me ideas of where to search. Thanks....love this website. Barb Kiser, The DallesSue B. replied:For photos of Petersburg School, get hold of the School District Museum. It's located out at the old Wahtonka school. The curator is Rymmel Lovell. While the museum is not open on a regular basis during the winter, she's pretty agreeable to making appointments with people. She's in the phone book. History and school memorabilia from The Dalles District 9 and District 12 schools over the past 100+ years. Available for class reunions, call 541-296-6546 for hours. Free admission.
