*A few notes from Richard Tanner, Founder/Training Director-
*A responsible dog trainer should take into consideration underlying medical issues for a dog's adverse behavior before addressing the issues from a behavioral standpoint. This is why I require all clients and potential clients to have their dog thoroughly examined by a licensed veterinarian to rule out a medical cause for a dog's undesired behavior. I... show more
do not recommend working with a trainer with grandiose displays of being able to control the dog's symptoms rather than addressing the problem or problems as a whole.
**I receive a lot of emails and phone calls inquiring about methods, techniques, and tools. I'm experienced with most modern techniques and tools. There are a lot of dogmatic camps that claim their respective methods are the only way you should train a dog. The truth is all of these camps make valid arguments and have shown progress with different dogs; different being the key word. A good trainer barrows techniques from different methods and applies them to meet the needs of the dog.
***I've worked in boarding facilities, rescues, veterinary clinics, and some are better than others, while some are worse than others. I came back to Kansas City with the goal to help people from my hometown solve their problems with their dogs. I've toured most boarding/daycare facilities in the Metropolitan area and frankly, I'm humbly unimpressed. Again, some are better or worse than others, but in my opinion, there is NO PLACE in the area I'd leave my two dogs for boarding or daycare. My dream for Bark Boulevard is to operate as a full-service facility, but for now we only offer pet sitting in the owner's home, dog walking, and dog running/jogging. show more
