  We'd like to open the what we believe is a load bearing wall between our kitchen and living room to create a more open space. We don't want to remove it completely but rather do something like the picture. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations on a contractor w/ insurance. Any idea on price to just open it up and frame it to bear the load? We can do the finishing work/electrical/sheetrock etc.
