  Any suggestions on what to do with window air conditioners over the winter? Are there companies that pick up, store and reinstall that are not astronomically expensive or do most of you just keep in the windows or store in your apartments. This is my first winter back after many years with central air so suggestions are appreciated.

  The company I use is Frenchmen Air Conditioning. There are 2 phone numbers for service: 212-368-6050 and 718-599-9161. They were local (B'way in the 180's) when I started using them years ago but later combined with another company at 333 First Avenue. I've been very satisfied. I even purchased my current unit through them. I believe they open at 10 AM. You will most likely have to leave a message and they will get back to you the next day as they are out in the field. Also, be aware that their voicemail message is not very loud. I've brought this to their attention but I don't think they've corrected it yet. I hope this helps.
