Hey everyone, I just want to share my less-than-positive experience about my dentist here in Leiden (Van Leeuwen Tandartsen). When I was looking for a dentist some months ago, I searched here for some recommendations and I found that a couple of people advised against Van Leeuwen. Unfortunately and regrettably, I didn't listen to them and I should have! I went there anyway because it is only 1 minute walk from where I live.
My very first appointment for a quick intake check-up, I had to wait 45 minutes because the dentist (Fred van Leeuwen) was so late. I did some treatments there and now I was charged much more than I expected. I can't be sure if all is necessary but I know since there is a microscope there, he can just use the microscope (71 EUR per one time) to do a non-root canal treatment. He claimed that it is necessary but I asked several other dentists and they said it's not. It could be a case per case basis but I'd rather not being charged 71 EUR for using the microscope for only some minutes and I'd rather be given the choice (which I asked for an estimation beforehand and he said that he couldn't give it). Anyway, I just don't trust Fred van Leeuwen since I think he didn't listen to my concern and just brushed it off because he is busy. So I quit and changed back to my previous dentist in Den Haag. I've lived in NL for almost 8 years and van Leeuwen Tandartsen gave me my worst experience.
So I am just sharing my experience and hopefully you'll choose another dentist if you are looking for one.
