  URGENT fan question: :) Stephanie Hello, I wanted to submit a question for which I am hoping to find someone that have gone through the same problem. "I am a dentist and today while I worked on a patient I punctured my finger with a needle I had already used on my patient. Now I am getting tested and so as the patient but I might be starting prophylactic tx for HIV. I won't know if the patient is + or - until Monday and that depends if the patient ever gets tested since is up to her...I have been breastfeeding my baby for almost 4 months now, but I am so frightened to breastfeed right now. I know the chances of infection through a needle are slim but I still don't want to take my chances, has anybody gone through something similar? And has anybody been on the prophylactic treatment and was able to breastfeed? I will be contacting my babies pediatrician on Monday but I just wanted to hear from someone that has gone through this or knows anything about this subject. Thank you Nya

I am deeply saddened that I'll no longer be able to tandem nurse my babies.   I know nothing abour your condition or meds but wanted to suggest callong the infant risk center to confirm whether or not the meds contradict breastfeeding. They keep up to date data on meds. Most physicians are not aware of how many meds are actually compatible w/ feeding. 8063522519
