And without getting too personal, what could we expect to pay for such a project (feel free to PM if you are more comfortable)?   I received 4 estimates of what could be done for $40,000 and two contractors -- Federal Contracting and Staples -- came in with doing a lot more -- replacing the ceiling, opening up the kitchen, and expanding the kitchen by creating an alcove with a pantry for the refrigerator. I went with Federal Contracting because that firm had the more complete proposal, but I've also heard good things about Staples. You get more for your money with those two firms. http://federal-gc.com

  Just finished a major renovation this year and highly recommend Federal Contracting (www.federal-gc.com). They did excellent work at reasonable prices and everything happened on schedule. Jose is the best contractor I have ever worked with.
