On October 7, 2012, Jim heard the words no father wants to hear, “Dad, Jared’s dead….” His son was training for his first full Ironman Triathlon to be held in Panama City, FL. Jared was hit by a car and killed. Only the week before, he competed in a-half Triathlon, beating his best time by 48 minutes.
Jim shares his thoughts:
“There had been nothing in my experience that even approached the intensity, the onslaught of emotional hemorrhaging, the unfolding nature of the losses associated with the pain that began with the forbidden utterance and substance of “a parents' worst nightmare”.
“when the “unthinkable happened”, to this totally unprepared father who was full of hope and aspirations for both of his adult children and their spouses, its’ initial impact created absolute devastation. Is there even breathing after such a life event? “
“Curiously/cautiously but with certainty life was created to continue onward with purpose and meaning after such a life challenging horror, a new mission was born.
Any good Therapist in Navarre that can help me with the death of my dear friend? This has been the first death I've had to deal with in my life so its been hard for me! Any recommendations?
