"While on vacation in the Ga mountains, we took a side trip to the Dawsonville GA racing Hall of Fame (Excellent!) and then to the famous "Dawsonville Pool Room". We had the great pleasure to meet Mr. Gordon Pirkle, the colorful propritor. But the real highlight of the visit was the hamburger, The Bully Burger. Simple, balanced, an old fashioned work of art. Well worth the trip just for the burger. This is definately one of the best burgers I have ever had!! Don't miss the Pool Room for it's racing history and one great burger." - Chef Dave Del Rio
Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations that are open tomorrow for a traditional New Year's Day meal? ie greens, black eyes peas, etc
Frank H. replied:
Go to the Dawsonville Pool Room for their traditional New Year's Buffet. They start serving around 11 a.m. and will serve until the food runs out. Karen and I have had a tradition of going there every year we've been together. Another good place would be Loretta's Country Cooking in Oakwood. They told us on Wednesday night that they will be serving the traditional New Year's dinner. I still recomment the Pool Room, just because of the decor. And who knows, you just might run into Awesome Bill from Dawsonville or even the ghost of Popcorn Sutton, the most famous moonshiner ever. https://www.facebook.com/dawsonvillepoolroom/
