Our perfect trip would be scenic, interesting, with lots of options and places to stop for a quiet drink and bar meal along the way. With that in mind could anyone recommend which route/canal would be best for us? Many thanks.

  Bridgewater canal no locks if you don't want them and locks quite easily beyond if you do, varied scenery, pubs, quiet, Victorian architecture and the Cheshire Ring if you want to go for it. starnarrowboatholidays.co.uk is us. :) Flexibility and 2 boats to choose from, fuel included.

I'm looking for recommendations for the canal (a few locks are okay - we'd be up for the challenge a bit), that has beautiful scenery and places to stop along the way. She's visiting from the US so villages etc are all very intriguing to the visitor. Maybe 3-4 nights? Does such a thing exist? Thanks in advance. :)

  Hi Janine Lawrence we are on a lock free canal, the Bridgewater canal near Manchester but this may be too far for you to travel. We have a 57 ft boat although relatively easy to handle. Most of our hirers have been first timers. We'll only let you go off on your own when you and we feel confident and if you really don't master the tiller you can stay on our lovely linear mooring. I can see that 57 ft might put you off a 40-45 ft might suit just nicely. You can find us here www.starnarrowboatholidays.co.uk
