Hello,
I own an older home (1947) and have Lath and Paster walls throughout the home. Unfortunately my home is very poorly insulated and because of its size pretty darn expensive to keep reasonably warn.
I'm starting to think ahead and would very much like suggestion on business on the island that may be able to help.
So far my options seem as follows;
1) Cut holes every 16inchs or so at the top and bottom of the walls and spray in insulation. While this is the lease invasive option I was told by the first company I contacted that this would have a low success rate as they could not tell what was in the walls and could not guarantee the spray insulation would cover all the spaces.
2) remove all the exterior walls (on the inside) and insulate then dry wall over them. The is extremely messy work and would require the walls the be re-drywalled
3) remove the siding, and sheeting and attempt to insulate from the out side. While not as inconvenient it would be extremely expensive.
If anyone has any suggestions for energy audit personal or companies that I could call about getting the home better insulated I would love to here them! Also if you have any suggestion that I have not listed above I'm all ears!!!
