  The HDMI switch will so what a receiver would do - switch between the cable box and the Apple TV. It would go down with the rest of the equipment and prevent you from having to install a second HDMI cable. However, if the existing cable is loose in the wall cavity it should be relatively easy to pull a second one through. If you'd like to call, I'm at 646 283 0917
