Hi all. I am writing with a request. My son, who is 42, has been diagnosed with NMDA. We are looking for a doctor in Ohio or western Pennsylvania who has experience and has treated NMDA. My son received steroid treatment in the hospital then went home with steroids on step-down dosage. We were told to contact the doctor if symptoms that had gone away re-occurred or existing symptoms increased. We did. Not much was done and -- long story short -- he was told last week that there was nothing more this doctor would do for him. Even though he displayed antibodies in his blood and showed low levels in his spinal fluid, the doctor now says she does not believe it is NMDA and wants to turn him over to psych. Something changed from one appointment to another. Like I said, it is a long story but the point is, we need another NMDA doctor with experience. Any help is greatly appreciated. For reference, do not suggest the Cleveland Clinic, unfortunately, that is where we hit a brick wall. We are very disappointed and a bit frantic to find another doctor who understands -- which, as you all know, is very hard to do. Thank you.
