I rue the day I asked South Devon Renovations to do some work on my house. It was a major rebuild, and we agreed a fixed price for each piece of work plus a clear date for completion. Whilst Stuart was there (the same Stuart who posted the comments below?) it was ok, but when he went, everything went downhill rapidly. They were slow, and unreliable, and seemed incapable of doing even simple tasks, like hanging doors so they fit (so badly fit you could see daylight under the external door frame), or fixing a bath to the wall, or a wc to the floor, or even finishing tasks. The mess and damage they caused was unbelievable (and in places downright dangerous) , with a complete lack of respect for our items, and dirty cups and empty bottles and cans left everywhere. For example they ruined a piece of my furniture by using it without asking as a table top to put their circular saw on, and it now has so many grooves cut into it it is ruined. Once they had my money they walked off the job leaving things unfinished, or so badly done they have had to be redone anyway. The last straw was overhearing Brad Roe talking about me to another tradesman. I can now get no satisfactory response from Brad Roe, despite polite letters and messages, so his 'warranty' appears worthless. Despite only finishing the roof a couple of months ago it now leaks in 2 places and Building Control have refused to pass it. The whole roof now has to be stripped off and done again. The bath and wc have had to be redone by another company, as have the doors. The list goes on and on and as time goes by more and more issues are becoming apparent. Citizens Advice and Trading Standards recommend that good practice in the building trade is that you should have a signed contract you agree first with your builder, and that things should be invoiced. Wish I had known that first. This company has ruined me financially and emotionally. Beware.

Please think very hard before employing this company. A job (kitchen and bathroom refurb) estimated at taking two weeks was into the fourth week with very little sign of the end. The heavy work, moving a wall 400mm then plasterboarding, plastering etc. went ok and the bathroom looks pretty good. However, kitchen worktops badly cut and chipped; damage to unit doors; unnecessary holes drilled into unit doors; pelmet incorrectly fitted, necessitating new pelmet; base unit shelf used as a coffee 'tray', then fitted complete with coffee stains and cup rings; disturbing apparent lack of knowledge re kitchen fitting in general .... need I go on. We dispensed with their services in the end and found someone more competent to finish the job.
Need a kitchen fitter / builder for my mum that can take down a wall and fit a steel beam for supporting the wall quotes needed by April she lives in brixham
