  I have 3 golden retrievers and I know e a fly how you feel about the never ending shedding....but do not ever shave a goldenseal fur..... Ever. The double coat is needed for protection from cold and from heat in the summer. Shaving is a lazy answer to a normal situation. These dogs shed, period. And yes it happens twice a year. Shedding occurs because of the light, and changing seasons. Going from long days of light to short daylight hours and vise versa. I use to show my goldens and I take my dogs to the same groomer I have used for 10 years, her name is Connie she owns Groomingtales in Mackenzie town. 403-726-1113 She is also a breeder and owner of Golden retrievers so has complete understanding of the breed and the coat needs.
