  Jessica Sherman: the wait varies depending on your health history. If you have pre-existing medical conditions, it's actually not a very long wait. When you get on the wait list, be sure to specify any conditions that would mean you need to find someone faster. If you're very healthy, then yes, it can be a longer wait. And if you don't have an Ottawa back-up, there's a private health clinic in Gatineau that comes highly recommended from people I know: http://sentinellesante.ca
