Hello! I will be in London in January and February! What is the London tiki bar you recommend I visit? xo, Miss Tiki Oasis

I live in London, and Trader Vic's has the best atmosphere. I love Mahiki too and have spent many a drunk night in there, but it's so packed and such a party atmosphere, you kind of forget it's a tiki bar. The atmosphere isn't really as relaxed as I like my tiki bars to be. South Pacific is good, but I'm not real crazy about the neighbourhood, not that that matters, cuz it really doesn't that much! It was a bit dead the night I went. But worth a trip!
If you're ever in Notting Hill, there's a cool little bar that isn't tiki, but it's more a kitsch 1970s wood panel-themed bar that's pretty cool. It's small and intimate and fun, Trailer Happiness. We go there, then to the luxury cinema right by it, the Electric. (First purpose-built cinema in England I think, very old and cool.)

Oh, if you go to Mahiki, make reservations. But you'll have to guarantee a stupidly high bar tab, like £200 or something! It's hard to get in there sometimes if not. Try to go early.

Mahiki, most definitely. Our waiter was dressed up as a pirate and was totally in character. We also went to Sugar Cane in Clapham Junction (just south of London), very nice much more affordable.
