  I hope this is okay to post - we live in Needham Heights and are having the worst experience with our contractor. We are looking for a good lawyer as well as tips on dealing with a bad contractor. We decided to put in a patio outside, and unfortunately we got duped by a bad contractor. Before we signed and paid a deposit he seemed really impressive and we were very excited to work with him. After the deposit it's like he's a different person; not returning calls, not showing up, promising to be done but now a 2-3 week job that should have ended 12/14/15 is still ongoing. Our yard looks like a war zone going on 6 weeks, and our neighbors' patience (as well as ours) has run out. Contract says work will be complete on or before 12/14/15, and that we both agree "time is of the essence". He still comes in and does some work some days during the week. We are trying to press him (after all winter is already here) but are at a loss. In your experience, do we have any recourse here? Assuming he finishes the work, are we obligated to pay him even though he is in breach of contract? Does anyone know a good lawyer for these matters? Thank you for any advice!
