  there are plenty of places in, for example, clerkenwell and the city, which do all their trade during the week and close at the weekend. you can therefore hire them for free, if you can guarantee a set bar spend. i think that's what Katie Glass did for halloween last year. i've previously hired the bear in clerkenwell - it has since become the Clerkenwell & Social, but it might be worth asking: http://www.clerkenwellandsocial.com
