  Can anyone recommend a good/cheap local builder to build the shell of a dormer and a hip to gable conversion? I've got planning permission, structural drawings/calculations (including for 3x steels). So I just need someone to build the shell (no interior work or staircase), ideally within the next couple of months. I would prefer a local independent builder with recommendations and not a big building firm as this is quite a small job. Yes, I've used the search option, check-a-trade and google but really I'm looking for recommendations and I'm working on the assumption that good builders don't generally advertise directly anyway.

  Hi, yes It's B & P builders Number is: 020 83910422 Or 83941925 Name is Reg and he lives in Chessington, been in business for more than 25 years :) They were brilliant from start to finish, they estimated 6-8 weeks but finished in about 5 (actually 4 but Christmas week was in the middle) except the outside which I had to wait until the temperature was right so an extra week or so. The floor screed does take a while to dry though so even when they have finished you can't put flooring down, so do take that into account.

  Can anyone recommend a good building firm to quote for a single storey rear kitchen extension 8.5m by 3m. There will be large steels required as we already have a loft extension and want to knock the whole of the bottom rear of house through to the new extension. Thanks in advance
