Hello and thank you for considering me to lead your residents in music activities. My name is Bobby Guskovict and I am a musician/singer with over 30 years of experience. Over the last 5 years my focus has been specifically in music activities with elderly people. I use an acoustic guitar and sing songs from their generation that the residents remember. Along with “their” songs I encourage folks to sing with me, do clapping exercises, use tambourines and maracas with the music and even talk about memories the songs might bring. I do not call myself an entertainer although I take the performance aspect very seriously. My goal is to get residents actively involved according to their abilities. Music activities often go beyond the activity. Many times music is an avenue that can open up otherwise quiet or less social people. Some who no longer talk will sing along with a song they’re familiar with. Those who don’t like exercise may not mind shaking a tambourine or doing clapping exercises with live music. Music can be a powerful tool that brings people out of their shell as well as helping to bond friendships. I like to use it for all it’s worth. Again I’d like to thank you for considering my music program as an enjoyable activity for your residents. I look forward to many fun visits ahead.
So my eldest, 12 years old, wants to take guitar lessons. Anybody have any ideas of a reputable, decent place I can take him to sign him up? The only thing I know of is the music store that's on Southfield Road in Allen Park
