I encourage anyone who asks, as well as people who call me directly, to contact a couple of therapists to talk for a 15-20 minute consult on the phone to get a feel for that therapist before getting started with them! I offer anyone who calls me that initial consult in order to get started getting aquatinted. If I don't feel like I am the best fit for you knowing my skill level or if you don't feel like I'm the best person for you given personality differences, I will help anyone who calls me find a therapist who fits with them! That is very important!! It is also important that you enter therapy with an openness to explore some patterns and ready to work on and talk about some things that can be very difficult to face! I have a profile on psychologytoday.com where quite a few other therapists are also listed. Each therapist provides a brief few thoughts about their approach to therapy. There are also other things identified, such as what types of therapy they do, what types of clients they work with, what forms of payment they accept, etc. That can also be a helpful tool in finding someone that you think you might connect with! There is a search engine to search your zip code. Taking those first steps can be very scary! While this is my career and I do need to make money, I try to help as many people through that process as possible to make it as easy as possible to get connected to someone who can help! People often wait until they can't bear to wait any longer to get help! That quote, "you never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have" rings so true in situations when you need to or have to reach out for help! Don't just settle because that can delay your progress! I'd be glad to help as much as I am able! 615-516-3063
Anyone recommend any good counselor or psychologist in the area?
