  Hello lovely people, my hubby and I have just bought our first home and are starting to look at heating and cooling options before whacking in an air con unit. The first issue is the living room ceiling, its high and vaulted and has no insulation. Red tiles on the roof. Its a sweat box. We had a quote to insulate it for 3 k BUT it would involve 'gyprocking' over the beautiful beams which is not an option as it will totally ruin the atheistic of the room. I just wondered if anyone had any other cost affective suggestions of what we could do? Also what do I do about heating? All our rentals had wood fires, we have space for a gas fire, is that the best way to heat?Thank you in advance for any assistance.
