  Curious...is it worth it to just have carpet professionally cleaned to get dog smell out of a house? We are in the process of buying a house and the carpet doesn't look stained, just has a lingering dog smell. Will a professional cleaning get the smell out and who is the best out there?

  

  Yvonne R. replied:

  There are special deodorizers that can be used to help neutralize the odors. I'd have to look at it to inspect the source and which areas are concentrated or not. There are some other helpful hints I give my clients after a cleaning to help hold off the odor for awhile. That's the next best thing to replacing it because the problem usually lies in the pad.
