Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
trekMountains started as a result of having worked since 2003 as a trekking consultant and trek leader for some of the biggest names in the trekking and adventure travel industry. I realised that there was a need for a more personalised service - after all, this is the trip you have been dreaming of, so it should be 100% your trip, not just a product that is easy package up and sell.
I have personally led over 55 expeditions and holidays, mostly in the Himalaya, Europe and Africa.
Describe a typical work day for you?
trekMountains is different from other companies:
I will listen to you and create your trip with
your dates
your friends
and
your itinerary.
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
There's nothing I love more than putting together a trip that is right for my clients and which becomes a trip they'll always look back on with a smile.
To see a trip through from initial concept, putting the itinerary together, tailoring it to fit the client's needs and then perhaps even leading it - well, quite simply, is there a more satisfying job out there???
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
The best way to get the answers you are looking for is to complete the short enquiry form on our website at http://trekmountains.com/contact/
We will try to get back to you within 24 hours, usually much less!
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
There have been so many incredible experiences, here are just a few:
● Getting 48 scouts to summit the highest point of their trek in the Indian Himalaya at the same time.
● Showing a lady in her 70's who lives in Switzerland a field of edelweiss in the Italian Dolomites and seeing her reaction.
● Listening to a girl aged 15 who has had a difficult background as she realised that there are people in the world who face a tougher existence than hers every day.
● Watching the sun set on Mt Everest in Nepal and at Rongbuk, Tibet.
● Encouraging people to discover what they are capable of doing.
