Hi All. Just a quick update. We are making some good progress with this and have some very helpful people within local government and councils working to secure our first project. This is going to be the difficult part of the project, waiting! In the mean time we have been thinking how we can help with shelter for people at Calais. Tents are great but they are also cold and winter is coming. My good friend Sam Crossley, along with others, is organizing a trip out there with this in mind. We have been putting our minds to an adaptable cheap build block and have decided that we will make insulated pallets, a standard packing pallet with rigid insulation within it, like a SIP panel but much cheaper. This can then be used as a basic building block to create small and larger structures and clad in tarps.
If anyone has any good avenues on insulation and pallets let us know and if anyone else has a truck they don't mind lending or driving then also let us know. We are also asking if anyone with a mind for design can come up with suitable structures and linking mechanism to build these structures.
Lastly, if anyone knows of any architectural firms that might be interested in thinking about cheap pop up structures that can be loaded on a flat bed, then that would be amazing.
