ABOUT OUR SERVICE:
Making or updating your Will and taking advantage of comprehensive Estate Planning is one of the most important and useful things you can ever do. The process enables you to clearly state your wishes and to pass on your assets and possessions to those whom you wish to receive them. You may also be able to protect your assets from hostile creditors and ensure that your wealth is preserved for future generations as well as reducing or, in some cases, completely removing, any liability to Inheritance Tax.
We shall be glad to visit you at your home or place of business, as appropriate, in order to discuss your concerns, advise you of your options and, where appropriate, take your Instructions. This initial, exploratory discussion will typically last an hour and a half, and the enclosed Guidance Notes, which concentrate particularly upon foundation Will planning, are designed to help you to prepare effectively for the meeting. Please follow these guidelines as closely as possible as they will help you to make the right decisions.
Everybody’s circumstances are different and our fees will naturally vary accordingly, but we will let you know what to expect as early as possible in the initial meeting. Once we have agreed an appropriate strategy, you will be asked to sign an Instruction Form confirming your wishes. At this point our fee becomes payable. Assuming you are instructing us to act for you, you will only pay for the advice you take and not for the time our Consultant spends with you, nor will there be any hidden extras. Whatever kind of advice best meets your needs, our Consultant will discuss our fees with you before you need commit yourself to anything.
When we have received your Instructions we will write to you with full details of the agreed strategy, together with a receipted invoice, and ask you to confirm that we have correctly understood your wishes and to provide any outstanding information. Once we have your confirmation to... show more proceed, and all the information we need, we will then prepare your draft documents.
This is your second opportunity to ensure that your wishes are accurately represented and that there are no omissions or spelling mistakes. Thoroughly drafted Wills and Trusts are, by definition, complex legal documents which, in order to guarantee that your wishes are met, need to be written in a particular format, using specific terminology that is sometimes hard to follow. To help your understanding, wherever possible we will provide you with general Guidance Notes when sending Draft Wills or Trusts.
Once you have agreed the final wording, you will be sent the bound documents to sign, together with clear instructions on how to make them legally valid. If appropriate, our Consultant will hand-deliver the final documents and help you to carry out the Attestation, for which there may be an additional fee.
When the process is complete, it is important that all your important, long term documents should be securely stored so that they are readily accessible in case of need. We recommend the services of a specialist document storage company, Guardian Storage, and if you decide to take advantage of this facility they will issue you with a Certificate of Deposit once all documents have been lodged with them. At this point we shall write to your Executors, Attorneys, and members of your family as appropriate, confirming the location of the documents and how they may be retrieved. We shall also issue you with certified copies for your own retention, together with guidance leaflets for future use.
