New to CrossFit! Hi all,
I’m really interested in getting into CrossFit but there are no boxes near me. Can anyone recommend any workouts I can do in a normal gym to get me started?
Thanks all in advance!
deebloom replied:
You should take a look at the Main Site [www.crossfit.com](https://www.crossfit.com) for a daily workout or you can look at a box you're interested in (even if you're unable to attend) because many gyms post their programming online. That should help give you some ideas and you can YouTube any movements that you're unfamiliar with
Any good daily wod site that include warm-up, str and metcons. Hi all, I will eventually have to make the transition from the box to the garage. I am nervous about giving up the community due to high membership fees and time restraints of having a young family.
Can you recommend any good wod site or gym feeds that include warm up, str, meet con and aux (opitonal.) work in their daily wods.
Thanks

[Crossfit.com](https://Crossfit.com), if you follow on them Intsagram, they have the warm-up, conditioning, scaling options, coaching tips, lays everything out by times to be completed in an hour.

Street Parking is $19 / month. I come from just a regular gym and decided to swap to crossfit at home. They offered several variations of the same workout to accommodate the type of equipment you have. You can log everything in wodify. I’ve been a member for almost two months now and love it! They also post accessory workouts.
minerstown crossfit in town near sports authority. His programing is spot on and catered to where you're at for your abilities! http://www.crossfitminerstown.com/

Crossfit Park City. Original Crossfit in town. Excellent staff of trainers.
Jill S. replied:
FYI: several of the trainers at Minerstown went through a mentoring program at Crossfit Park City and got their level 1 certs at CFPC. Got their start and training there before going out on their own.
Robin S. replied:
I moved cross country to PC in late June, having done CF for about 2 years prior to my move. I started at Crossfit Park City based on it's excellent reputation. I have not been disappointed. The coaches are beyond exceptional - true experts with attention to detail and technique and the community is welcoming.

Crossfit Ten500 is very close by and has both regular WOD & strength training plus Olympic Lifting Classes. One of the trainers is a highly sought after strength coach, pretty sure you could work something out with him during the open gym time.

Important question anyone know of a place I can do some drop in work out's while I am on TDY in Japan next week? I will be in Tokyo and Misawa Air Base for a few days in each place... Also any recommendations of things to do, see, or eat?.. Thanks!
John M. replied:
CrossFit Misawa is on base and apparently amazing. A friend of mine from Korea used to train there. Also, you can check the CrossFit.com list to see all affiliates worldwide. I'm pretty sure Tokyo has CrossFit somewhere.
For all my Crossfit peeps! I'm looking for a good book that you would recommend for a beginner for crossfit workouts! Pictures required! LOL!
Valerie M. replied:
Like others, I don't know of a book on CrossFit. Crossfit.com and the CF Journal are probably some of the best resources for demonstrations and videos. Otherwise, I would suggest a cert to get more on the foundations and theory, although its kind of expensive that way if you are not planning on being an instructor. Are you still teaching yoga?
Stephanie C. replied:
I'm unaware of an actual CrossFit book. Supple Leopard by Kelly Starett is great for mobility. There is always CrossFit journal that has tons I pictures and break downs of movements. Like anything on the internet, just be careful what videos you watch. Stick to reputable people; ie Riptoe, Burgener etc. Were there specific questions?

Wants to start working out but doesn't know where to begin. 215 lbs right now would like to drop down to 185- Anyone have tips or a program they recommend?
Exquisitine B. replied:
Crossfit and the Paleo diet. Both are available online for free. Crossfit.com will give you a new workout every day and paleo will teach you the cleanest way to eat in order to shred down. Text me with any questions you have. LEARN HOW TO RUN BEFORE YOU START. A lot of people end up with shin splints because they strike their heel on the ground and you should never do that.
I'm being posted to Cold Lake, Alberta at the end of January (insert screams of joy here...lol). Does anyone know of any boxes/classes being run up there? The gym on base didn't have a crossfit corner like DDH...
Chris B. replied:
Hey crossfit.com has a box locator
Bojan J. replied:
I can find out I have a friend that does Crossfit out in cold lake
Hi,
Could you please give me some basic info on the classes, times and prices please? Cheers :)
Mike H. replied:
Sure thing: Classes are around an hour. Combination of body weight exercises, medicine balls, kettlebells and weightlifting with barbells, and running. We mix all those exercises up each week and vary the intensity. You go at your own pace and we time ourselves on a few of the "standard" routines so you can compare how you are doing each week. CrossFit is a large movement that is very good about sharing information. www.crossfit.com. Some of the moves look intimidating but we scale to your level of ability. Best thing to do is give it a try. We also meet at 0730 on Saturday mornings at ANZAC oval for running for an hour. Sat am is more social than anything, but you still get a kick ass workout.

Does anybody know if there is a Crossfit place in Marshall?
Ryan R. replied:
The workouts are posted on the crossfit.com website, although I advise not to just do them because of form and technique differences in what we were always taught at the 'ol E.F. weight room.
Ryan R. replied:
www.crossfit.com and use the affiliate finder. Looks like one in Longview. That's it. If someone had the funds......and a coach.....would be a great opportunity.
