Hello, first-time poster here wondering if some lawyers could help me out? I tried the search function and couldn't find something similar.
We are two students that recently came to Prague and stayed in a student residence in Prague 4 that is owned by some company, we had no idea of how far away it was from our Uni so we decided to terminate the contract prematurely, the contract specifies that the fee for doing this is 6,500 czk which is half of our deposit (13,000 czk).
We were told by reception we would get the rest of our deposit within a month, and now it has been more than 3 months. Whenever we send them emails they usually either don't respond or contain empty promises such as "we'll pay next week" or "the manager is ill and he is the only one that can authorize the transaction", phone calls get disconnected when transferred and so on and so on.
I spoke with our Uni and they said they had received similar complaints and that some students got a lawyer to "scare" them into sending us the money. Anyone that knows law or a good relatively cheap lawyer (we're students!) that can help us out? We have copies of our contracts and everything.
Thank you!!!
