Unless you want your place destroyed, don’t ever hire Lee’s Painting. I get the sense that Mr. Lee hires around 10 or so subcontractors and has all of the guys shuttling between 2-3 jobs a day (the same people were not there the first and second day) and pressures them to get it done as fast as possible by cutting as many corners as possible. Sure, the price was low, but I’m going to have to spend so much to fix all the damage they did, I should have just paid more for a better paint job in the first place. Here are some details about how horrible the paint job is: 1. I have beautiful thick white trim around the bottom of all my rooms. There are paint splotches all over it because they only applied a narrow layer of masking tape to the top and didn’t bother to clean up most spills. By the time I found all of them it was too late and the paint has dried. I’m going to have to repaint the trim; 2. They didn’t use any sort of tape on the ceiling and the paint line between the wall and the ceiling bleeds onto the ceiling in several places and there are noticeable paint marks on the ceiling in several places; 3. Where they did notice they spilled (not many places), they tried to scrape it off with a razor blade and scraped down through the paint already on the trim to the wood on the trim; 4. They tried to scrape some paint they spilled on my custom stained kitchen cabinets, which also now have a big nick in them from the razor blade they used. Then they gave up and left the rest of the paint they got on the cabinet to dry so there is paint right next to a big nick; 5. They used a razor blade to try to remove spills from brand new bedside tables and scraped two giant holes in the finish on one of them (the tables still have the tags on them - cannot believe one is completely ruined - and were also in the middle of the room so should have been covered with something but apparently weren’t) 6. They didn’t bother to remove a twist-off lighting fixture in my half bathroom before trying to paint behind it and got dark blue paint all over the back of the lighting fixture; 7. They got paint on the natural stone tile in my bathroom that I can’t get off; 8. There was gunk or dirt or hairs or something on their rollers in several locations which is now painted permanently into my wall; 9. They got paint all over a light colored area rug in my bedroom, and then denied that they did it (details below) They had packed everything up to leave when I went into the bedroom and I noticed I could still see the old paint color through the new paint on most of the walls (old color was pinkish-red, new color is greyish-blue so this is a big problem). They were clearly in a hurry to get to another job, but came back in to touch up. Five minutes after they’re back, I go into the bedroom where they have put no drop cloths or plastic or anything and one of them is standing in the middle of my bed on the comforter with his shoes on roller painting the wall. I notice splotches of paint on my duvet cover and pillows and demand they go get drop cloths before they paint any more. They come back with drop cloths that they don’t check for wet paint. They put these wet-paint-side-down on my carpet, and when they leave, there are splotches of two different colors of blue on my new tan area rug. Then they deny it was them and try to blame it on the guys who worked the first day - despite the fact that the paint on the rug was wet. And if you need any more reasons why you should never hire this company - here’s a few more: 1. They washed their paintbrushes/rollers out in my kitchen sink, got paint water all over my dish brush which they didn’t bother to remove from the sink and all over every single cabinet within four feet of the sink; 2. They went into my utility room and helped themselves to my vacuum other other cleaning supplies without asking me first (I was in the house the entire time and they knew where to find me); 3. They brought their lunches, used my fridge, and used my microwave without so much as asking. I would have let them, but at least be considerate enough to ask first.
