Assistance with applying for Soc. Sec. retirement benefits Hello Long Island,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a company/firm/person that can help an individual apply for Soc. Sec. Benefits?
Or. Someone who can help determine what the benefits would be and the documents needed to apply.
With the pandemic, the SSA is only holding telephone appointments and it is difficult to get concise answers.
Thank you

Have you taken a look at ssa.gov? There appears to be some guided steps on there. Also, perhaps a local library might offer resources.
are there still places up where I can get help getting my SScard/ID/birth certificate?
Laura Z. replied:
Go online to SSA.gov. It gives requirements for replacement. You can’t just call, but service is free. See if you meet requirements to apply for replacement online.
Looking for an insurance agent that can help us get Medicare insurance for our disabled adult daughter.

Go to ssa.gov website. At top of page is blue ribbon. Click on menu. Go to Benefits section in middle of page. Click on Disability (2 nd subject listed). You will see two boxes and then two paragraphs of narrative. Click on the link in the second paragraph "how to apply for disability for a child under the age of 18."
Can anyone recommend an attorney in the Concord / Harrisburg area the helps people to apply and go through the motions for getting on disability? Thanks.
Connie A. replied:
You can apply on-line yourself without an attorney. Maybe you have already done that. Here is the link. https://www.ssa.gov/
Tax question- has anyone had trouble getting your child's caregivers social security number (not a licensed daycare so no ein number)? I am trying to deduct the cost and get the child care credit but the daycare lady is refusing to give me her ssn even after I sent pictures of the tax document. What should I do? It's over $600 that I would be losing (a LOT for a college student) any advice is appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help..

Open account with ssa.gov and it will tell you all the history of your employment and you can track your income.

go to ssa.gov to get the hours because they have shortened hours. and yes the Timberwood Circle (lynn station area) is a much better choice
I am having a very very difficult time with PAMS! Can any one recommend any thing? I over paid on a tax bill but they say I didn't send in my W2 (which I paid a good and reliable tax person to do and I believe it was sent). They are charging me a huge fee!
I need to get a new Social Security card and I heard that Social Security comes to Ridgecrest once a month. Does anybody know where to find that information (location, date, time)?

I am looking for a twin bed for a disabled vet who had a stroke and is finally getting close to coming home. Please contact me if you have one free or cheap.
Denise W. replied:
I have some other stroke supplies for sale, let me know what you need and if I have it I'll work with you on a deal. Most of what he'll need will be covered by Medicare/Medicaid though. Also, if he doesn't have disability (ssd/ssi) he should apply now. www.ssa.gov
I need to know if anyone knows of an insurance agent, a lawyer, or a website that knows anything about Social Security benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. If you are a retired teacher, you are pretty screwed with getting any help at all.
Who knows of some decent disability lawyers in the area. Going to start my application. Too many medical issues and I'm unsure of the process. Some help and guidance is definitely needed. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers up information!
Andrea P. replied:
all disability applications are done online at ssa.gov. It is not on paper anymore. If you aren't sure of what to say, if you go into social security, they will help you fill it out by asking you the questions. They will go on the computer to fill it out for you. That is all to it. 800.772.1213 ssa
Do you need a Disability Representative? 80% of applicants have one by the time they reach the appeal stage.
To speak with a professional SSD attorney or advocate who will evaluate your specific case, we recommend that you start with this free evaluation

Welcome to the world of ssa. Look at ssa.gov in search engine ..type blue book. That will tell you what is disabling. What evidence is needed and remember its not a diagnosis driven program its a function program.
I've applied for ssi for the second time for my daughter. What do I need to expect? I would like to get a lawyer involved but want to know what everyone has done to receive theirs. I'm a GA resident

Summer, what was the reason for denial? 103.04 is the SSA impairment listing for children with CF http://ssa.gov/.../103.00-Respiratory-Childhood.htm... SSA benefits, whether they are SSDI or SSI are federal benefits, not state benefits. Kristie, SSI is for children under 18 or adults with no/not enough work history. What you are referring to is SSDI.
Julie P. replied:
An attorney can only take 25% OR a maximum of $6000 from your back pay. Not sure where Jonathan is pulling the 40% from but that's not remotely correct. Joni it has CAN involve lung function, but that is the hardest of the three criteria to meet. These are the adult impairment listings, you have to MEET or EQUAL one of them. http://ssa.gov/.../bluebook/3.00-Respiratory-Adult.htm
