  Hi Sarah. If you are proposing to do it as a business then you need to get a qualification as a transporter. I got mine at Plumpton College. You then have to get insurance for the box. I found Millins Chartered Insurance Brokers to be helpful with this. It is best to get Public Liability Insurance and Equine Breakdown Cover both of which I got through Millins.   We don't do self drive but our horsebox has an external tack locker which has two saddle racks, two bridle racks and lots of room for grooming kits, water carriers and anything else you might need. We also have a hanging rail for show jackets which is sheltered from the horses area which helps keep everything clean and free from hay and hair. At 90 pence a mile we have one of the cheapest rates in Sussex. If you are interested email where you want to go to and from to brightonhorsetransport@gmail.com and I will send you a quote.

  We are a horse transport business with over 35 years’ experience with horses. We have a 3.5 tn rear facing horsebox. Luxurious and safe, it has a very low ramp, rear facing position, anti-weave bars, constant monitoring with CCTV, satellite navigation and can carry up to two horses. We are available for shows and events, pleasure rides, relocation and visits to Vets.   We don't do self drive or trailer hire but in our horsebox, the horses travel facing backwards. Studies have shown that horses travelling in rear facing horseboxes are much less stressed and have a much lower heart rate than horses travelling facing forwards or sideways. So you'll know that you horse's performance will be less likely to be affected by their journey. At 90 p a mile our rates are some of the cheapest in Sussex.
