So Greg has done some research on the tranquilizer gun. He spoke to the vet on doses. Here's the problem, as everyone seen the dog on the news that was stuck on the ice, that was a good situation for a TG. Tank's situation is very different. An animal needs to me relatively motionless. There are 2 areas the front shoulder and butt where the dart needs to go. If Tank is hit anywhere else he could have major consequences. So as everyone knows Tank is skittish and running away ~ fast. Obviously we would need a professional even though Greg says he is a good shot. So if by chance the professional misses (and there is one) I don't even want to think about the consequences.
As for the sedatives put in the food, our vet said it takes up to an hour for the full effect. We have given some of our dogs Acepromazine (sedative) around the 4th and is usually takes about 20-30 mins. In the mean time if we are not able to follow him he can run into traffic (which he is hanging around busy streets, along with them being truck routes). Or if we do not find him then what.
They were great options, but we feel they are not good ones after much research.
Thank you everyone for all your commitment on our search to bring Tank home. We truly appreciate everything. Any other suggestions we are willing to take.
