What's a good place to get a beard shaped up? (NYC) My facial hair has seen better days and I'd like to treat myself to something nice. Is there such a thing as a beard stylist? Something like a hairstylist, but for beards. Any recommendations on where to go?

Check out [blind barber](https://www.blindbarber.com/). They have locations in the East Village and Williamsburg.
Can anyone recommend a place to get a decent haircut? I don't ask for much, just a taper in the back, take some off the top, and take a straight razor to my hairline. I've only gone to one place in westwood (Oakleys) and wasn't satisfied with what I got. Went there a second time because I thought maybe it wasn't the barber's day, but same thing. Don't really want to go around trying out places randomly since I don't get my hair cut here all that often. Maybe I'm spoiled because I usually get a fresh cut for $10 but I'm wondering if there is something like that around here.

The best place on the westside is [The Blind Barber](http://blindbarber.com/) at Overland and W Washington Blvd. It's not cheap, but you get a complementary cocktail or beer with your sweet haircut.
Does anyone know of a barber who gives shaves with a straight edged razor like they did in the old days? They would have to be in the Los Angeles area. I always wanted a shave from a barber.
