  Does TACA have any current recommendations for an Auditory Trainer for my son (your CAPD article was super informative, but almost 5 years outdated)? Also, we are having trouble getting an CAPD evaluation because my son is autistic (CHOA won't even do an initial consultation...just a "no" over the phone). So, I'm considering getting the trainer "out of pocket" on my own. Can I buy direct or do I have to get this thru an audiologist? Is there a way to either borrow a trainer for a trial period or buy one used?

  You might want to talk to Christa Reeves at Little Listeners (inside Building Bridges Therapy). She is an audiologist who knows about CAPD. They will want to find out if the child has trouble with listening in noise before investing money into an auditory trainer. Some of the listening therapy programs are designed to help with auditory processing, but it is always best practice to have an assessment done first.
